Choi Bo-ram reinterprets traditional, blue and white pottery into arresting optically surreal sculptures. The artist builds classical forms using small clay patches and then uses the form as a canvas to draw delicate blue lines onto, connecting one ‘patch’ to another. Korean Blue will present Choi’s first new works following a two-year maternity break. Choi uses indigo blue for these new works, contrasted against areas of space to emphasise a period of absence. When fired, the uplifting blue tones that emerge suggest a joyful new chapter in her career. Choi’s works are held in prestigious collections and shown in Chatsworth House’s latest exhibition ‘Living with Art We Love’.
